Expats & digital nomads
Starting over in a new culture, far from the people who knew you before. Loneliness, identity, belonging, and relationships that strain under distance.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy online, in English or Romanian. For expats, founders and professionals who hold a lot together, and rarely say what it costs them.
Alexandra Marin Psychoanalytic psychotherapist
Most people don’t come to therapy because everything has fallen apart. They come because something keeps quietly repeating, and they’re tired of carrying it alone.
If one of these sentences stayed with you, that is reason enough to talk.
Request a first consultationSymptoms are messages. In psychoanalytic therapy we don’t only try to quiet them. We try to understand what they are saying. Tap a line to look beneath it.
These are illustrations, not diagnoses. What lies beneath is different for everyone. Discovering it, at your own pace, is the work we do together.
Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy works with the parts of experience we don’t fully see: early relationships, unspoken expectations, feelings we learned to put away. Putting them into words changes how much power they hold.
Sessions are open by design. You talk about what is on your mind; I listen closely for what repeats and what is avoided, and we make sense of it together. Over time the aim is not only relief, but a freer, more spacious relationship with yourself.
Research on psychodynamic therapy suggests its benefits tend to last beyond the end of treatment, because the work is about understanding, not only coping.
Putting words to what you feel, often for the first time, and without being judged.
Tracing present difficulties back to where they began, and seeing the patterns that connect them.
Making different choices from the inside out: in relationships, in work, in how you treat yourself.
I work with adults living all over the world. Many of them are far from where they grew up; most of them are used to being the strong one.
Starting over in a new culture, far from the people who knew you before. Loneliness, identity, belonging, and relationships that strain under distance.
Therapy in Romanian, wherever you live. For the feelings that only make sense in your first language, and the complicated ties to home.
Decisions no one else can make for you, and a mind that doesn’t switch off. Pressure, isolation, and the cost of always holding it together.
High standards, long hours, quiet exhaustion. Perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, and the feeling that it is never quite enough.
Psychodynamic therapy starts from the idea that symptoms are saying something that hasn’t yet found words. My role is to create the space where that can finally be heard and understood.
I’m accredited by the Romanian College of Psychologists and a member of ACPPB, trained in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Beyond clinical training, I bring over 11 years of personal investment in self-knowledge and development, along with a cross-cultural perspective shaped by living and working across several countries. That gives me a close understanding of what it’s like for people navigating between cultures, languages and time zones: entrepreneurs, professionals under constant pressure, expats and Romanians abroad.
I work exclusively online, directly with you, with no assistants and no intermediary platforms. When you write, I’m the one who reads it and replies.

No forms to fill in about your history, no waiting rooms. Just a short email, and a person on the other side.
A few lines are enough: your name, your time zone and when you are usually free. You don’t need to explain everything.
I read every message myself and reply by email, usually within two working days, to suggest a time for a first consultation.
Fifty minutes online to talk about what brings you, at whatever depth feels comfortable, and to ask anything about how I work. There is no obligation to continue.
If we continue, we agree on a regular rhythm at a fixed time: a steady place in your week that belongs only to you.
A good therapeutic relationship rests on clear boundaries and complete transparency. Here is everything you need to know.
Times are agreed individually, across time zones.
A few lines by email are all it takes. I’ll reply personally to suggest a time for a first 50-minute consultation.
It helps to include your name, where you live, when you’re usually free and your preferred language.
